Justram PurgEye 100: a popular choice for everyday weld purging
Start with the Justram PurgEye 100 weld purge monitor for most routine weld-purging applications where its atmospheric-to-100 ppm measurement range meets the welding procedure. This popular handheld unit is a practical choice for everyday stainless steel pipe and tube work, in the workshop or on site.
The Justram package combines the battery-powered instrument with a heavy-duty protective case, fitted foam, sampling accessories and a calibration certificate. An inline filter and Gorilla tripods are optional accessories. Justram also provides replacement sensors and calibration support.
What is a weld purge monitor?
A weld purge monitor measures residual oxygen in the gas around a purged weld. It helps the operator check that oxygen is within the limit specified by the welding procedure before and during welding. The required range depends on the job: routine stainless steel fabrication and more demanding titanium or high-purity work can need different instruments.
Weld purge monitors vs oxygen safety monitors
A purge monitor uses an oxygen sensor, but the sensor alone does not determine whether an instrument is suitable for weld purging. The complete instrument must provide the required low-oxygen measurement range, accuracy and sampling arrangement. Standard personnel-safety oxygen monitors generally measure percentage-level oxygen; weld purge monitors measure the much lower concentrations needed for purge verification in parts per million (ppm).
For reference, 100 ppm equals 0.01% oxygen, while 10 ppm equals 0.001%. These are unit conversions, not universal welding acceptance limits. A weld purge monitor does not replace a personnel-safety oxygen monitor.
