High Temperature Weld Purge Systems — Argweld HotPurge
Argweld HotPurge high temperature weld purge systems support pipe welding with preheat and post-weld heat treatment. Specify the bore, heated-zone length and full temperature cycle for the required assembly.
Argweld HotPurge high temperature weld purge systems provide a localized inert-gas purge for heated pipework. The tandem dams are connected by an extended sleeve so they can sit outside the central heated zone while the weld area is purged.
Plan the complete heat cycle
HotPurge is intended for applications involving preheat, welding and post-weld heat treatment, including heat-treated chrome and high-strength steels. Justram’s listed application includes P11, P22, P91, P92 and CMV steels. The welding procedure determines the required purge and thermal conditions.
Manufacturer literature describes operation around 300°C (572°F) and cycles of up to 24 hours. This is not a blanket rating for placing every dam, hose and connection in the hottest part of the heat-treatment zone. Provide the peak temperature, exposure time, heating layout and dam positions so the limits of the supplied configuration can be confirmed.
Gas control and positioning
The system incorporates IntaCal gas release, PurgeGate flow control and a RootGlo positioning band. Confirm the inlet and exhaust connections and follow the supplied operating instructions. These features assist setup; they do not replace the specified pressure limits, inspection or oxygen monitoring.
HotPurge model and bore selection
The catalogue below lists nominal sizes from 6 to 88 inches. Select using the actual pipe inside diameter and listed expansion range. Nominal dimensions are reference values, not a substitute for checking fit. Confirm sleeve length and bend access when requesting a quotation.

Complete the purge arrangement
Provide pipe dimensions, material, joint geometry, retrieval access and the required oxygen limit. Choose a weld purge monitor appropriate for that limit and confirm its sampling arrangement for heated work.
For standard-temperature fabrication, compare PurgElite inflatable purging systems and QuickPurge III. Their standard configurations should not be assumed to have HotPurge’s heat-treatment capability.
