QuickPurge Mark II Inflatable Purge Systems
Argweld QuickPurge Mark II twin-dam pipe purging system with a central collar to reduce purge volume. Specify pipe bore, weld temperature and oxygen requirements for configuration or replacement support.
The Argweld QuickPurge Mark II inflatable weld purge system uses two dams and a central collar to reduce the volume that needs purging around a pipe weld. This page covers the Mark II generation; identify your existing system when requesting a replacement or application support.
Reduced-volume pipe purging
A short connection between the dams and a heat-resistant central collar reduce the space to be filled with inert gas. The system provides connections for inflation and purge gas, auxiliary purge gas, and exhaust or oxygen monitoring. Heat-protective materials do not establish suitability for every preheat or interpass temperature; confirm the exact system rating for the welding procedure.
Purge time depends on pipe bore, enclosed volume, sealing, gas flow, leakage and the required residual oxygen level. Use a weld purge monitor and the oxygen limit in your approved procedure rather than a fixed elapsed time to determine when welding can begin.
Illustrated operating sequence
The following is an overview, not a substitute for the instructions supplied with the specific system.
1. Position the system
Use the pull tags to place the dams on either side of the weld with the correct clearance.
2. Inflate the dams
Connect the specified inert-gas supply and inflate according to the manufacturer instructions.
3. Purge and measure oxygen
Once the dams seal, gas displaces air through the exhaust path. Keep the specified exhaust arrangement open and use the appropriate monitor to check residual oxygen. Use the auxiliary line only as directed for the system.
4. Maintain the purge and allow cooling
Maintain the required gas flow during welding and cooling. When the procedure permits, shut off the supply, fully deflate the system and remove it.
Choose the correct QuickPurge configuration
Provide the actual pipe internal diameter, material, joint geometry, access, temperature profile and oxygen target. For an existing Mark II unit, include its identification and the part needed so Justram can confirm compatibility and availability. Do not assume that parts or ratings from another QuickPurge generation are interchangeable.
