Legacy single-ended tube testing
The G450 was designed for straight heat-exchanger tubes where access is restricted to one end. A support-rod and tube assembly positions seals within the tube, allowing a pneumatic test using the connected gun. This distinguishes it from systems that require access to both tube ends.
The published tube-ID range is 0.500–1.230 inches (12.70–31.24 mm), with size-matched support components, seals and washers. The legacy plant-air supply range is 40–125 psi (2.7–8.6 bar). These figures are reference information for existing equipment; use the complete manufacturer procedure for the actual assembly and test.
Documentation and support enquiries
Provide the equipment model, required part number or photograph, tube OD and wall thickness, tube length and tubesheet spacing. Include channel-head depth and the distance to obstructions along the tube axis so access can be assessed.
Alternative tube-testing methods
EST lists the G160 pneumatic tube tester and G250 vacuum tube tester as alternative testing options. They require review against the job’s access and test requirements and should not be assumed to replace the G450’s single-ended arrangement directly.
