Original GripTight High Pressure Test Plug

The original EST GripTight high-pressure test plug seals within the pipe inside diameter and uses test pressure to supplement its mechanical grip. EST lists this original design in its discontinued-products range. Legacy size and pressure information

The published original range includes 0.93–8.53 inch IDs (23.6–216.7 mm), with maximum test pressures up to 14,000 psi for applicable configurations. That headline maximum does not apply to every size or pipe. Use the exact part-number row and the pipe-material conditions in the technical specifications.

The test pressure must remain within the limits of the plug, pipe and all other components in the test system. The specification’s reference to pipe yield is a calculation condition, not permission to use a single pressure across the range.

Parts, seals and application checks

Provide the plug part number, measured pipe bore, OD, wall thickness or schedule, pipe material, required test pressure, temperature and medium. Note any coating, corrosion, pitting or internal seam, since bore condition affects suitability. Standard and optional seal materials require compatibility review.

Seals and gripper assemblies are replaceable components. Confirm the correct original-model parts before ordering; do not assume GripTight MAX components are interchangeable.

Follow the applicable manufacturer instructions for inspection, installation torque, restraints, venting and depressurization. The standard design is not for reverse-pressure applications.
