Magnatech Pipeliner Pro Mechanized GMAW/FCAW Pipe Welding System
Mechanized orbital GMAW/FCAW pipe welding system with a Model 616 guide-ring welding head, TPS400i digital inverter power source and touchscreen programmer for production pipe welding.
The Magnatech Pipeliner Pro is a mechanized orbital pipe-welding package for high-output GMAW and FCAW work. Unlike closed-head TIG equipment, it combines a guide-ring-mounted Model 616 welding head, Fronius TPS400i digital inverter power source and Model 716 controller for field and shop pipe welding.
Built for production pipe welding
The Model 616 head uses a water-cooled torch on a rugged tractor with interchangeable guide rings. It supports FCAW uphill welding, high-speed GMAW downhill welding with narrow-groove preparation, and root-pass work. Pendular or straight-line torch oscillation, motorized arc-gap control and rapid torch recentering help the operator maintain a consistent setup around the joint.
Key capabilities
- GMAW, optional pulsed GMAW, FCAW and Low Spatter Control (LSC) process capability
- Pipe diameter range: 4.5–84 in. (114.3–2,134 mm) with the appropriate guide ring
- TPS400i output: 400 A at 40% duty cycle; 320 A at 100% duty cycle
- Model 616 head with water-cooled torch, powered V-roller guide-ring drive and pneumatic clamping
- Touchscreen Pipeliner Digital Programmer for up to nine weld passes, plus wired run pendant
- Wire feeder, flow-sensored water cooler and cart with bottle rack included with the power-source package
Power source and digital control
The TPS400i uses synergic wire-speed and output control to support stable GMAW/FCAW operation. Its LSC root programs, penetration and arc-length stabilizers, pulsed/spray modes and material programs are intended to help maintain repeatable welding conditions. The Model 716 controller integrates with the TPS400i and the Pipeliner Digital Programmer’s 10.4 in. colour touchscreen. Operators can adjust parameters in test mode without striking an arc; program security and USB software updates are also provided.

Guide rings and accessories
Guide rings are required to mount and drive the welding head around the pipe. Magnatech offers standard guide-ring sizes from 6 to 84 in.; adaptor foot kits extend use down to 4.5 in. when required. For larger tanks, vessels and ductwork, FLX-TRACK can be specified with magnetic or vacuum attachment options. A starter consumables kit and tool kit are supplied with the Model 616; replacement consumables include contact tips, gas nozzles, diffusers, liners and feeder rollers.
