PetroChem Chemical Resistant Pipe Stoppers

HFT Pipestoppers® PetroChem® rubber inflatable pipe stoppers are designed for line-pipe applications involving hydrocarbons. Their longer-than-diameter, ribbed body helps reduce tipping and slipping inside the pipe, while the inflatable construction remains lightweight and practical for site work.

PetroChem rubber stopper range

Five standard PetroChem rubber stoppers seal pipe bores from 2 to 12 in. (50 to 300 mm). Confirm the actual bore, access opening and selected model before ordering; Justram can help confirm suitability for the application.

Hydrocarbon service and chemical compatibility

PetroChem stoppers are intended for suitable applications involving hydrocarbon liquids and gases, including pipe and drain testing, debris exclusion, low-pressure hydrostatic tests and overnight pipeline protection. Chemical resistance is application-specific: provide the medium, concentration, temperature, contact time and required differential pressure so compatibility can be confirmed before use.

Construction for secure sealing

The longer body provides stability in the pipe, while the ribs help maintain grip and reduce the risk of slipping. This differs from a fabric-covered inflatable bladder: compare construction, model range and operating requirements before selecting a stopper.

Temperature and heat protection

HFT identifies the standard PetroChem construction for use up to 90°C (194°F). Optional heat-resistant covers can protect the stopper in exposures up to 300°C (572°F). The cover rating does not establish the continuous operating limit for the complete assembly; provide the exposure temperature and duration for confirmation.

Inflation and back-pressure requirements

Use the specified inflation limit and suitable restraint for the installation. Permitted back pressure depends on the selected model, pipe surface, contact area, support arrangement and inflation pressure.
