Remote Weld Purge Monitor — PurgEye 1000

SKU: API1000

PurgEye 1000 Remote places a stainless-steel sensing head at the weld and sends 10 ppm oxygen readings to a hand-held display over standard 10 m or extended 1 km cable runs.

PurgEye 1000 Remote weld purge monitor puts the sensing head at the welding zone while the operator reads oxygen results from a separate hand-held display. It is intended for long tube and pipeline welding where sampling at the weld is more representative than measuring gas at a remote exhaust location.

Remote sensing at the weld

The stainless-steel sensing head can be fitted to compatible mechanical or inflatable pipe purging systems at the weld location, or positioned in the welding zone as appropriate. It measures oxygen in the purge gas and sends the reading electronically to the display, keeping the operator away from the sample point.

The sensing head is suitable for pipe diameters from 1 in. (25 mm). Fixtures are available for stable mounting to compatible purging systems.

Long-distance monitoring up to 1 km

A 10 m lead is supplied as standard. Optional 100 m outdoor-cable reels with locking connectors can be joined to extend the operating distance up to 1 km; select the cable arrangement to suit the application. The system uses a single data cable to power the sensing head and transmit readings.

Oxygen readings and sampling performance

PurgEye 1000 Remote measures oxygen from 1,000 ppm down to 10 ppm, with specified accuracy of ±10 ppm. The sensor head incorporates an electro-mechanical sampling pump to maintain gas flow over the sensor for stable readings. The display can be switched between ppm and percentage.

Use leak-tight quick-disconnect fittings suitable for 6 mm OD polyurethane tubing. Other tubing diameters may not seal correctly and can introduce leaks.

PurgeNet™ process control and quality records

PurgeNet™ supports connection to compatible automatic welding equipment and accessories. With the appropriate interface lead, oxygen readings can be used to control a welding power source or trigger compatible external equipment. PurgeNet™ can also transfer records for PurgeLog™ quality-control data handling.

Select the monitor for your application

Specify the required distance, pipe access, sensing-head mounting and cable route. Confirm the supplied lead and any extension reels; the maximum distance requires the appropriate cable arrangement. Identify the required oxygen limit and instrument configuration before ordering.
