Pipe fit-up spacing aid
The Stepped Wedge & Gauge™ is a stainless-steel wedge and gap gauge for pipe fit-up. Use it to help establish a selected root gap while fitting pipe-to-pipe, pipe-to-fitting and fitting-to-fitting joints.
Confirm the completed fit-up
The tool assists with setting the gap; it does not verify internal alignment, root opening, weld suitability or final acceptance. Confirm the required gap, hi-lo, alignment and other fit-up criteria against the applicable weld procedure specification (WPS), project requirements and inspection criteria before welding.
Construction and selection
The wedge has a hardened, stepped knife edge for checking and setting gap thicknesses. Select the required step from the approved weld procedure, then use the appropriate measuring and alignment tools to verify the completed joint.
